PhreakNet relies on a community of volunteers dedicating their time and effort into improving and maintaining the network. We regularly invest countless hours towards improving the network and adding new features and functionality in order to better the network and the community. Donations help us cover the expenses of running the network (website, main tandem, etc.). If you'd like to consider donating to this project so that we can continue to invest in R&D, please consider leaving a donation — even $5 or $10 goes a long way and is greatly appreciated!

PhreakNet is 100% free — donations are not required to participate. If you are able to and would like to donate, navigate here to make your donation. Thanks for the thought — and if there's something that you'd like to see (e.g. XYZ on the network, new feature added to Asterisk), don't hesitate to reach out or post on the mailing list.

In the interest of transparency, we have listed our typical monthly expenses here:

Cloud-hosted server infrastructure (main network tandem, websites, databases, BBS) — $22 a month
PSTN connectivity (PSTN local and toll-free access numbers and trunking) — ~$5-$10 a month
PhreakScan PSTN expenses — ~$5 a month
Domain registrations — ~$40 a year
Time spent behind the scenes (e.g. network maintenance, fixes for DAHDI breakage) — free, some sleep deprivation

Kindly note that PayPal donations are no longer accepted. Online donations may be made via GitHub instead.

Donations and sponsorships are always welcome, and they don't have to be monetary! If you'd like to donate equipment (e.g. ATAs) or services (e.g. SIP trunking) for PhreakNet users, please reach out to us! However, please note that donations are not tax-deductible.

Funds to be appropriated for bill processing MUST be appropriately earmarked in your donation (e.g. as the memo in your check). If you donate via a channel that does not permit this (e.g. GitHub), please send an email to donations [at] phreaknet.org and clearly indicate how your donation was made and what amount. It will be cross-referenced and the balance added to your account.
